You've Put the Words of What is in My Heart

Mga Igsoon ko,
Gatulo akong luha in reading your emails today.
Firstly, thank you very much Ren for losening up and openning up. Honestly I dreaded the scenario that I will be push to choose to delete anyone in this egroup.. So I was really praying hard that love, tolerance, acceptance and embracing oneanother would prevail even if we have different preferences. .. Thank you too for your advice. BTW we are in Bangladesh not in Cambodia. But please do not let me stop thinking and praying for our root, figuratively, I will die if I would be disconnected with you people (hehehehe).. We doing fine in our adjustment, although we have to really burn candles in our language study. Its really difficult, they said Bangla is the next hardest language next to Chinese. We are also getting meaningful frienships with some locals.
Rub, you've put the words of what is in my heart...haay tulo na pud ako luha. How I desire to to see our CebuNavs community what you have seen in Acts, and what the Moravian C did a century ago. Yes all did their part to advance the Kingdom accoding to the role that God gave them. They go to place in group, some doing business some working and some and handling the Word but they as a community is creating an impact hard to resist by the locals becuase of the life the've shown as a loving community. This is actually the heart of vision of the Navs today.
Now how do we apply this in Cebu Navs community? We have a base Min. in Cebu and we are all scattered all over the world? I think what you are sharing now could be the answer.. Mga Igsoon, God is so gacious to us that He would open our eyes to the opportunity to be partners with Him. He blessed with people who can do fulltime min work. 40% of the fulltime Navs Staff are form CebuNavs, and 83% who left the Phils as Navs and went overseas with Missi... in mind .. are also form Cebu. I think we are beginning to see that He has also blessed many of us the capacity to earn not only for ourselves but most of all, to be His partners in the furtherance of His Kingdom. At the end of the day mga igsoon ko, its not how high we have climb the ladder of success that will give us "Life" but its the King and giving ourselves to the furtherance of His Kingdom that will. Our King has promised us that He came to give us Life and have it abundantly.. .As a community let's start living abundantly by being consumed with Him and His Kingdom..

B. Personal Knowledge of the Navs

10. The result showed that the personal knowledge of these alumni are coming from the time of different leadership. Majority of them are from the time of Kuya Philip and only 20% is coming from our new NLT. I will interpret this as lots of work for the NLT to communicate what the Navs is doing now, starting from the vision and mission to the actual work in the ground if we want these alumni to be partners.

11. Alumni were asked about their knowledge (at least 60%) on some areas :

a. 60% knows the relationship of the PhilNav with international Navs 40% do not, this is ok in my personal opinion.

b. 48% do not understand our organizational structure, not bad.

c. 72% do not understand the functions and activities of the Nav office, to me this is very sad.

d. 40% do not know the present mission /vision of the Navs and how it is carried out. I think there is a big room for improvement on this.The plan of the NLT to go around the different ministry areas will help a lot.

e. 52% do not know where the present ministry areas are, so there are many things we need to communicate.

f. 36% do not know our ministry target.

g. 52% do not know what is happening in at least 1 ministry area.

h. 52% do not know how we handle the ministry, how we handle our workers or program, if we are not into program then do we communicate?

i. 48% do not know of any project/program of the Navs. Yes, most of our work is not a program.

j. Good that only 28% of them do not know the staff.

k. An amazing 80% do not know the different kinds of staff we have and what do we expect from each classification.

l. 80% of them do not know how we recruit and handle our staff.

m. 72% do not know what is the plan of the Navs for their alumni, this is sad.

o. 80% do not know the financial status of the Navs. Do we intend to keep it this this way?

I think we have so many things to communicate to our alumni before we expect them to be our partners. This is not just a matter of approaching for support, based on the exchanges of emails in Cebu Navs. Our alumni wants a meaningful involvement in the Nav ministry.

12. The next two questions are important to listen to, because these are about the perceptions of the respondents of the Navs as organization. They answered with at least 70% level of confidence. Their answers may not be true but this is the way they perceived the Navs.
a. It is very good to know that almost 90% believed that the Navs is still playing a unique role in the Kingdom.
b. It is sad though that almost 40% perceived that we are not clear on our vision.
c. Almost 65% percent do not believed that we have an effective organizational structure. In the first place, they do not know about our structure.
d. More than 60% do not see that the leadership has stirred up the organization towards it vision.
e. Almost 60% felt that Navs is not doing the ministry according to the vision, ahh this is sad.
f. Can you imagine that 65% of the respondents are not confident that we are doing the ministry correctly?
g. Also 65% can not confidently say that the Navs is concern about the staff. I know that this is not true in my case (I do not know with others) but is this because of the way the staff project themselves with the alumni?
h. Almost 70% can not say confidently that the Navs is not run professionally.
i. More than 50% can not confidently say that the Nav staffs have a healthy relationship among themselves, this is sad again.
j. 48% percent can not confidently say (at 70% level) that Navs is run with integrity, again this is a sad perception.
k. More than 60% can not confidently say that PhilNavs is not concern with its alumni.
m. More than 90% perceived that the Navs lacks funds.

13. The next set of perception by the respondents is on the staff.

a. More than 90% believed that most of the staffs are called by God, this is great!!!

b. But sadly about 44% of the staffs are not gripped with the vision according to their perception.

c. They do not even feel that the staffs are united in pursuing the vision (more than 50%)

d. Almost 80% said that the staffs sincerely love the people and the ministry.

e. Consistent with the previous question, 50% do not believed that the staffs have good interpersonal relationships. This is a sad picture of people who would like would like to encourage others to pursue a loving community.

f. There are 13% who believed that some of the staffs are on staff because they can not find a job.

g. The same number of people said that the staffs are doing the ministry out of duty.

h. Less than 10% believed that the staffs are not working hard enough.

i. There are also few staffs who have relegated the ministry work to students, according to a some respondents.

j. This a pincher when few of the alumni perceived that there are staffs who luck integrity.

k. also few thinks that the staffs lack professionalism.

l. 65% percent perceived our staffs as good examples of character and faith.

m. funny that there is 1 who said that some staffs do not know what they are doing.

Again these are just perceptions from the respondents. What will be our reaction to these? Personally, I would say that we do not have to defend. If some of them are true, let us do what needs to be done. Let's come to our alumni, let us present God's agenda for us and tell them that they have a Role to play in this agenda. Let us invite them to join us in pursuing what God wanted us to do as organization. It needs a lot of communication if we want our alumni to partner with us.
